WHITEWATER RAFTING WILL BE GREAT THIS WEEKEND!
from the West Virginia Department of Tourism

While the East Coast braces for a hurricane, the whitewater rafting
industry is set to offer some of the best fall and Gauley Season adventure rides a whitewater rafter could want. The rafting industry is receiving many calls from potential guests and travelers wanting to know if they can raft this weekend. The answer, according to the West Virginia Professional River Outfitters is yes!

Here are some points that they've asked West Virginia Division of Tourism to share with you about the next few weeks.

*Whitewater rafting in West Virginia is experiencing one of its wildest,
best seasons in its history, with water levels holding at highs that set
records in U. S. Army Corps of Engineers records.

*High water levels make rafting on both the New and Gauley rivers great
for everyone, no matter what type of ride you'd like to enjoy.

*There are 14 days left in Gauley Season. It's not too late to join the
fun in southern West Virginia.

*This weekend, visitors to the New River area can enjoy the fun of Gauley Fest, watch great rafting with the U. S. Whitewater Rafting Championships and visit the New River National River, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

*Beyond the river adventures, many of the rafting companies and nearby outdoor recreation businesses can help you plan for other outdoor adventures such as mountain biking, hiking, climbing and sightseeing.

If you'd like more information on Gauley Season and the rafting
industry, please call Eric Pories, West Virginia Professional River
Outfitters, at 304-574-2343.
