Take a Duck

Duckies are the most popular watercraft on the Upper New section. A cross between a canoe and kayak, these inflatable play boats are stable, lightweight, highly maneuverable and easy to paddle.

• No added cost, it's your choice! Single or tandem boats available.
• First time paddlers will never forget the experience. These crafts make even the smallest rapids a thrilling adventure.
• You can always take a turn in the raft if you need a break from all the excitement.
• You must be 10 years of age to paddle a solo duck, however, children 6-9 may paddle in a double duck with an adult.

Upper New River Overnight Trip

Reconnect with your family and nature with two full days of adventure in the stunning Upper New River Gorge on an Overnight Trip. There is nothing like camping along the river an truely experiencing the magic of a river. All you need to bring is your personal gear, sleeping bag and pad, and we take care of all the rest of the details!

What To Wear

May - August:

• Shorts and/or bathing suit
• Hat (you will be wearing a helmet on the river)
• Sunglasses with strap (straps can be purchased at our gear shop)
• River sandals or old shoes (no high heels... they couls pop the raft ;)
  
• A big smile

Note: NARR rents paddling jackets and other gear for unexpected weather.

What To Bring

• Sunscreen (waterproof - very important to have during the summer)
• Personal prescription medication (important to inform your guide of any medical conditions)
• Extra layer (synthetic fiber only)
• Waterproof camera (always a plus to catch smiles or maybe a bald eagle!)
• The kids (grand parents would enjoy this trip as well...)
  

Note: Guides carry drybags to put things in but have very limited space

Don't Bring

• Towels or change of clothes 
• Rings, jewelry. watches, wallets or other valuables you'd rather not lose or get wet
• Car keys
• Non-waterproof camera
